Ask The Editor: Punctuation

  • Island magazine Level 1, 91-93 Macquarie Street Hobart TAS 7000 Australia (map)

Island magazine Managing Editor Vern Field wants to help YOU perfect the art of proofing and editing in monthly 'Ask The Editor' sessions held in the Island magazine offices.

These sessions will be informal, open to anyone and will be led by the needs of the attendees. We welcome emerging and established writers, editors, proofreaders and communications professionals.

Do you know the difference between an en rule and an em rule?
Do you fear or favour the Oxford comma?
Do you know when to use a semicolon and when to use a full stop?

This session will be all about the nitty gritty of punctuation ... what you love to use, what you fear and what you can't get quite right. We can talk about commas, semicolons, apostrophes, hyphens, dashes, capital letters, emphasis or even the ever-polarising Oxford comma.

There will be tea, coffee, milk and biscuits provided and attendees are welcome to BYO drinks (we can provide the wine glasses!)

Entry is $5 which can be paid on the night or via the link below.
